Solar Energy Overview
Solar Cells convert sunlight into electricity. The electricity generated can be used by your solar PV system to power your home, your business or any place. Solar Cell Systems are installed in three main sectors: residential, commercial, and utility.
Residential
Residential solar cells are generally installed on the rooftops of the house or on open ground (ground-mounted) and usually range from 5 to 20 kilowatts (kW), depending on the size of a house.
Commercial
Commercial solar projects are usually installed on a larger scale than residential solar projects. Although individual installations may vary greatly in size, commercial-scale solar energy serves a consistent purpose which is providing on-site solar power to businesses and non-profits.
Utility
Utility-scale solar projects are generally large, with several megawatt (MW) installations providing solar energy to a large number of utility customers.
